Branson School enrollment continues to climb upward

Author reads to students

Emerging children’s author Jane E. Halley read her new book, “The Unidentified Flight-less Object,” at a series of book readings across Southwest Missouri, Dec. 18-19, 2008.  She visited Cassville R-IV Intermediate, Wheaton R-III Elementary, and Taneyville R-II Elementary. 1st Grade Christmas Program held

  First Grade students finish with a rousing rendition of Jingle Bells during their Christmas program at Reeds Spring Primary School.  The students presented their program for family and friends on Dec. 18.   Prior to the program, a benefit chili supper and basket raffle was held for Sean Murray, husband of Primary School Music instructor Karen Murray.  Sean was recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma and is receiving treatments at Little Rock, Arkansas.  Over $5,000 dollars was raised at... Read more »

Essay contest for high school students announced

High school students in southwest Missouri are invited to submit an original 300- to 500-word essay for a local contest sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists. The contest is open to students enrolled in grades nine through 12, in public, private or home schools. Students can enter for no charge but must have a sponsoring teacher. Students use class project to brighten hospital stay over holidays

School District awarded Distinction in Performance

The Reeds Spring School District has been awarded Distinction in Performance for 2007-2008 by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This is the third consecutive year that the district has earned this prestigious award. To achieve this award, a school district must meet 13 of 14 performance standards. OTC to offer 50 percent more classes

Ozarks Technical Community College’s Branson center will be able to offer about 50 percent more classes by the time the spring semester begins in January. A 5,000-square-foot expansion on the 11,000 square-foot facility will be completed at the end of this week to help the college keep up with local demand.
