Who will it be? There are exciting events happening in the near future. The new Branson Airport just south of town will be announcing the new commercial carrier soon. The folks at the privately owned airport are even having a contest called…”Who will it be at BBG?”  BBG is the airport designation. The folks down at the new airport have expended lots of man hours and money on this project.  It is planned to be a great addition to our community. We wish them the very best in their venture.... Read more »

Ronnie’s Page By Ronnie Page rpage410@centurytel.net I purposefully don’t do many show reviews for several reasons, the primary one is that I’m just not as articulate as some of the other writers like John Spencer or Kurt Moore. Boy, they can wax on and on about stuff. I’m just not that good, so I leave most of that kind of stuff to them. BUT! I’ve just got to say some good things (in my own way) about a show that Linda, Mama, Samantha and I went to see last week ’cause... Read more »

Agreement made with Poland

Foreign Policy By Professor Peter D. Tsahiridis Since President George W. Bush very smartly removed the U.S. from the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty the U.S. has been pushing for a complete global defense against rouge states whom utilize ballistic missiles in order to compromise our national security. It was President Clinton that first developed the ground-based defense concepts that made it possible to now formulate a defense against Iranian and North Korean missiles. For example, if an... Read more »

Tri-Lakes Tribune says “HAPPY THANKSGIVING WEEK!” One of the nice things about a small town paper is the closeness of the newspaper to the community. However, one of the drawbacks of a two day per week paper is timing for special events. So, we wanted to say at the beginning of Thanksgiving week “Happy Thanksgiving” with the knowledge that many of you will be on your way to friends and families homes when our Wednesday edition comes out. We as a community and nation have so very much... Read more »

Ronnie’s Page By Ronnie Page rpage410@centurytel.net Some of you older-timers may remember the singing LeFevres from Atlanta. Eva Mae and her bunch. But not all her sons were singers. Her oldest boy Maurice owned a recording studio and he relayed this story to me. Maurice had informed his secretary to log one particular day in the studio schedule book for some carpenters to come in and build a drum shed.   She did just that. On that day’s page she wrote “carpenters”.   …... Read more »

Granny would love to be here

November 19, 2008

Autumn Memories By Joyce Thompson autumnmemories@cebridge.net Granny would love to have lived in our day and age. We have showers indoors and bathtubs with water right out of a faucet that drops the liquid right in the tub. Granny was lucky to take a bath onest a week. To do that she had to first get Cecil (that was my uncle) to bring the bathtub into the kitchen.  Granny’s tub was light weight steel and flat on the bottom. The sides were pretty much straight up and down and the tub was a... Read more »

President-elect establishing relationships

November 19, 2008

Foreign Policy By Professor Peter D. Tsahiridis President-elect Barack Obama stated at his first press conference since winning Tuesday’s presidential election, “Iran’s development of a nuclear weapon I believe is unacceptable. We have to mount an international effort to prevent that from happening.”  An international effort with President Ahmadinejad, the same man that was responsible for organizing the kidnapping of Americans during the Iran hostage crisis?   President-elect... Read more »

Making our November Resolutions

November 12, 2008

Catamount Cowboy By Mike Brown cowboymike@juno.com It is time to make our November resolutions. November resolutions? Yes, I think that November is a better time to make resolutions than at the traditional New Year’s time of year. It is in November and December that we really need to be conscious of our habits and health related activities. It is during the holiday period that we seem to do the excessive things for which we are sorry at the end of the year. That is why we make resolutions in January,... Read more »
